Value

    Value
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
In these grave times
Value. A word so misused
As to be rendered meaningless.
In these grave times
Perhaps we shall restore
Meaning to value, find
That which is worthy,
Family, friends, the people,
The earth, the way it holds us,
The skies enfolding us,
The waters, without which
Nothing would be. Maybe.

More than we can bear

                More than we can bear
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
You know that pious platitude
Those so inclined mindlessly spout
With pursed righteous lips, the one
Where god will not put on you
More than you can bear? Liar.
We face more than we can bear
Often in this lifetime. Maybe not you.
Maybe you are special. I have fallen
Beneath my burdens, clawed my way,
Broken beyond repair or reparation.
Help does not magically show up
Yet, somehow . . .
